QATAR Tourism & Exhibitions Authority promoted know-how on Qatar as well as skills on organising meetings, incentive, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) events at the Global Incentive and Meetings Exhibition (EIBTM), Barcelona that ended yesterday. Along with tourism officials and organisations such as Qatar MICE Development Institute and Qatar National Convention Centre, members of the Qatar Foundation, and Expansion Qatar Events and Conferences, Grand Hyatt Doha and Sheraton Hotel, Qatar Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (QTEA) showcased Qatar as a leading world-class event destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). Speaking from QTEA’s promotional stand, head of Promotion and Organisaing Overseas Exhibitions in Qatar Soha Moussa said: “We are promoting Qatar as a unique high-level MICE destination, combining business with leisure, offering upscale infrastructures and services. I am delighted that so many commercial opportunities presented themselves during these first two days at the EIBTM.” QMDI deputy CEO Mohamed Jassim al-Naama said: “We are very proud to offer event management of international standards, with local market expertise.” Qatar already boasts existing exhibition space of 15,000sqm, two new convention and exhibition centres, totalling more than 95000sqm will be added by 2011.
