Five planets to be visible over Qatar sky in May

Qatar residents will get a chance to observe five planets of our solar system -- Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Mercury, and Venus -- during May. All the five planets will be close to the Moon at different times, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) announced.

The planet with beautiful rings "Saturn" will be close to Moon on Friday, May 4, where the angular distance between Moon and Saturn will be 1.7 degrees. Qatar residents will be able to see Saturn and Moon together with the naked eye over eastern horizon of Doha sky from 10:00 Pm until before sunrise time of Saturday, astronomer expert at QCH Dr. Beshir Marzouk said.

On Sunday, May 6, the red planet Mars will be close to Moon, at 2.7 degrees southern Moon's center. Residents can see them together with naked eye over eastern horizon of Doha sky from the rise time of Mars 11:11pm until before Sunrise time of Monday, May, 7.

The Smallest planet "Mercury" will be at an angular distance of 2.4 degrees to Moon on Sunday, May 13. Residents will be able to observe Mercury with Moon together over eastern horizon of Doha dawn sky, from time rise of Mercury at 3:46 am till the sunrise time of Monday, May, 14.

Dr. Beshir Marzouk added, the brightest planet "Venus" will be at five degrees northern new crescent of "Ramadan" on Thursday, May 17 and will be visible over western horizon of Qatar sky after sunset time till the time set of new crescent at 8:20pm.

Finally, "Jupiter" will be approaching Moon on Sunday, May 27 at an angular distance between the two of 4 degrees. The residents will be able to view the two together from Sunset time of Sunday till the 3:40am Doha local time on Monday, May, 28. (Source)
