The Ministry of Interior announced in a tweet on May 10, 2022 the arrest of five people for the selling of clothes with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ logo.

The arrest was carried out by the General Department of Criminal Investigation as the selling of the clothes violates the intellectual property rights as defined by the International Football Association.

The items for sale were promoted on social media which led to further search and investigation. Upon investigation, the accused were reached and all clothes with the logo were seized.

The accused confessed to the allegations when they were interrogated and presented with evidence. After the confession, they were referred to the prosecution for further legal proceedings along with the submission of the seized items.

It has been stipulated on various occasions by FIFA that the usage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ is prohibited without approval.
