Fish prices have peaked at record highs in the local market with suppliers blaming the hot and humid weather for the shortages.
Hamour fish that is highly popular among Qataris was available in the local market for as much at QR80 per kg, while Sherry was selling at QR12 per kg yesterday.
The Red Mullet, locally called Zubedi, was selling at QR49 a kg. Prawns, on the other hand, were being sold for between QR90 and QR120 a kg. A family from South East Asia said seafood was fast disappearing from their meals due to soaring prices.
