There is a strong probability that the first day of Ramadan in 2019 will be Monday 6 May 2019, according to a report by The Peninsula.

Based on astronomers calculations at the Qatar Calendar House, the new crescent moon of Ramadan in the Islamic year of 1440, is likely to be sighted on the evening of Sunday 5 May 2019 at approximately 1:47 am (Qatar standard time), according to the Gregorian calendar that we generally follow on a daily basis.

The final decision still lies in the hands of the Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs who will announce the start of Ramadan after they sight the crescent moon at the end of the Islamic month of Sha’aban.
