The Ministry of Interior, as part of its plan to improve the quality of services rendered to the public, has introduced an evening shift at the Criminal Evidence and Information Department (CEID). As per the new schedule, people under the sponsorship of the government, personal sponsorship and domestic workers will be attended to at the CEID headquarters in Aziziyan and the Mesaimeer branch from 1pm to 7pm. Lieutenant-Colonel Nasser Al Mahmoud, CEID’s Director, told journalists that fingerprinting of people sponsored by the government, those under personal sponsorship and domestic workers was earlier being done during the morning shift. This sometimes was resulting in rush at the CEID offices and delays in completion of the procedures. Because of this the department introduced two shifts, with the morning shift from 6am to 1pm and the afternoon shift from 1pm to 7pm. The CEID has allocated several halls and equipped them with 12 electronic devices for fingerprinting. The department also has qualified staff who can speak more than one language. The service centres in Al Khor, Al Shahaniya, Industrial Area and Al Wakra will continue working in the morning, said the director. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=March2009&file=Local_News200903226124.xml
