Concerned Filipino community groups have warned their fellow countrymen to be extra careful when boarding private taxis following an incident in which a Filipino engineer was allegedly duped of QR500 by three suspects in a car on Monday afternoon. An e-mail was being circulated to Filipino residents by members of the Filipino Community Association (FILCOA) warning them to be alert while availing of private taxis citing the sad plight that befell the victim believed to be perpetrated by fraudsters. According to Marlon Patriarca, site engineer of a contracting company, he lost a QR500 bill from his wallet after a brief disturbance inside the private taxi he and three other suspects were riding when someone declared his US $5,000 cash was lost inside a bag and demanded wallets of other passengers be checked. Frightened by the sudden turn of events, the victim decided to get off the car as it reached near Villaggio only to learn the note was missing from his wallet. By the time he realised this, the car had sped off. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=April2009&file=Local_News2009041152026.xml Why does The Peninsula only urge Filipinos?
