Hundreds of gadget lovers yesterday thronged to the newly opened Ezdan Mall and waited for several hours to avail what they called “crazy deals” at the opening of Sharaf DG’s first and Qatar’s largest store dedicated to electronic goods.
Sharaf DG, the UAE-based retail chain, is a household name in the region including neighbouring Bahrain and Oman. It provides over 25,000 electronic products and accessories to choose from reputed international brands under one roof. It also claims to offer “widest choice, best value and trusted service”.
A large number of customers started coming to the mall and patiently waited for over two hours outside the store for the opening until the press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony was over.
The store, spread in a retail space of over 31,000 sq m, is said to be the largest outlet dedicated to electronic items in the country. However, despite being so big and spacious, the management was forced to stop the visitors entering the shop temporarily as within minutes it became overcrowded.
People broke racks and jumped over one another to grab some products such as data storage devices (hard disc drive), tablets, mobile phones, cameras, electric irons and other accessories that are on sale at heavily discounted prices.
The top management of the company said the “crazy deals” will remain valid until September 25, but given the large turnout of customers, the stock may not last till then.
As customers started buying in bulk, the management of the store quickly announced that each buyer can purchase only one unit of each item to avoid wholesale buyers.
Commenting on the occasion, Managing Director of Sharaf DG, Yasser Sharaf, said: “Sharaf DG is known for offering best prices. If anyone claims to have bought the same product at a lower than our prices, we would give double the amount.”
He said that when Sharaf DG takes order from customers for any products they will deliver within 24 hours, if the time is breached they will give the item free of cost, subject to conditions such as logistic-related delays.
“Sharaf DG is known for its 24hr Brand Promise, DG Help, Extended Warranty, DG Remote and DG Data Recovery. This is probably is the first electronics store in Qatar to have only employees and no promoters, a key component in Sharaf DG’s promise to the customers - to increase customer experience in store and also have customers interest at the heart of the selling process,” he added

According to the company, over one million customers walk into Sharaf DG’s 28 stores every month. And it aims to bring here the widest selection of products in the region stocking over 18,000 products from over 300 global brands in categories including consumer electronics, home entertainment, IT, telecommunications, home appliances, marine electronics and much more.
