ExxonMobil Qatar to support visiting academics at QU

DOHA: ExxonMobil Qatar yesterday announced its support for the Qatar University’s new Visiting Professors Initiative. The initiative will host two world-class professors from renowned global universities at QU to teach in various disciplines, with a focus on engineering, math and science. The visiting professors will provide a unique learning experience which will enhance the technical skills and competencies of QU students. “We are pleased to partner with ExxonMobil in this very strategic initiative which will benefit our students and place them in front of other graduates in our competitive job market. Additionally, it will strengthen their confidence and inspire them to push forward to further academic studies at home and abroad,” said Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad, President, QU, speaking at a joint press conference. “As part of our commitment to social responsibility and our continued support of the Qatar National Vision 2030, ExxonMobil strongly believes that the human caliber is a key cornerstone to building a prosperous future,” said Dr Sheikha Bint Jabor Al Thani, Senior Vice President of Exxon Mobil Corporation. “This new initiative is one way we can develop individuals and ultimately foster the intellectual capacity needed to address society’s future challenges”. In a short presentation, Dr Al Thani outlined the selection criteria QU follows when hosting visiting academics. “This initiative establishes a strong foundation for future collaboration with prominent companies in the industrial sector”, she stated.
