Vodafone has achieved 98% network coverage in Qatar by setting up more than 200 radio sites across the country, chief executive officer Grahame Maher said. He said a large number of customers could subscribe to Vodafone Qatar’s mobile service by July / August this year. “From now on, we will have some exciting promotions every month for customers hooking on to Vodafone Qatar,” Maher told Gulf Times. Maher, however, did not give any indications on the pricing structure Vodafone would adopt in Qatar. “We will compete with Qtel on pricing, product and service. That’s why we are here. Vodafone is the first competitor to the incumbent provider in Qatar,” Maher said. Vodafone Qatar’s chief marketing officer Michael Portz said the company’s first shareholders would be eligible for “attractive benefits” through a promotion. “We welcome our first shareholders with our ‘1st Shareholders’ promotion to show our appreciation. They will receive a PIN number this month that allows them to go online to Vodafone’s website and choose their numbers. “The entire range of Vodafone numbers that start with ‘7’ including ‘Star Numbers’ will be available. “Randomly generated numbers will be free of charge. ‘1st Shareholders’ who want to select their own number will be charged a reservation fee starting from QR500. All number reservation fees will be at a fixed rate and a valid credit card is required,” Portz said. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=288555&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
