Hya Exhibition for Abayas, Kaftans and Evening Gowns Set to Dazzle Doha Again Second edition of the exhibition to be held in Doha DOHA November 16, 2011: STUNNING abayas, kaftans and evening gowns from the region’s most talented designers will be on display at the second edition of the Hya (She) exhibition to be held from November 22 to 25 November 2011. Organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), Hya will showcase the latest designs and trends for abayas, kaftans and evening gowns from Qatari and international designers. The second edition follows on from the successful June event, which saw thousands flock to the Doha Exhibition Centre to view the designs on sale. “We are gathering more exhibitors from around the region and especially from Qatar for the second edition of Hya, the amazing response to the first event in June shows that there is a wealth of talent in designing and creating these sometimes spectacular garments, as well as a discerning public looking for new and unique designs,” said Mr. Lahdan Ghanim Al Mohannadi Head of Organizing Internal Exhibition and Exhibitions Services Department at the Qatar Tourism Authority. “There is a great market for these garments in Qatar and the entire Middle East North Africa region. We were especially encouraged after the amazing response to the first exhibition. We plan to hold the event four times a year now, to coincide with the new “seasons” and cycles of designs.” The event will include fashion shows and demonstrations as well as the opportunity for visitors to purchase garments and other accessories. Mr Mohannadi said the June edition of Hya saw many visitors from the region attend. “We deliberately looked to recruit the best designers and retailers from across the Middle East and North Africa region,” he said. “As a result we had many visitors from outside of Qatar coming to see the latest designs and trends. We expect even more to come this time. “The exhibition is also a fantastic marketing opportunity for young and upcoming designers, especially those from the Gulf region, to reach a wider audience and showcase their talent.” The exhibition, at the Doha Exhibition Center, Losail Street, will be open daily from 10am to 1pm and 4pm to 10pm.
