Those who wish to catch Enrique Iglesias (pictured) live in concert should better start buying tickets as tickets are flying off the shelves very fast at all outlets. As of yesterday, Virgin Megastore in Villaggio, one of the outlets, had already sold over 700 tickets, several days after the tickets started being made available. “We expect to sell all the tickets, with still two weeks before the concert,” a supervisor at the Grand Cine Center, another outlet, said, adding there’s a huge demand for the standard and premium tickets. The King of Latin Pop’s first appearance in Doha which falls two days before his 34th birthday is expected to draw huge crowds, many of them from the younger generation. “The response from the students is very much enthusiastic. They are excited about the concert, in fact many have already bought tickets, so those who want to go to the concert should better purchase their tickets now,” said an organiser from Qatar Foundation. Son of renowned Spanish singer Julio Iglesias and Filipina journalist Isabel Preysler, Iglesias has featured in over a dozen albums both in Spanish and English and has gained recognition around the world including Grammy, World Music Award and Billboard Award. He has sold over 60 million albums around the world in his singing career which spans over a decade, making him one of the most popular Latin artistes in the world. This is the second time Qatar Foundation is inviting an international artiste to stage a show as a gift to the seniors as they celebrate their convocation. During the inaugural convocation last year, world acclaimed Italian tenor par excellence Andrea Bocelli serenaded the audience, together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Iraqi singer Kathem Al Saher. The concert will be held at the Education City Ceremonial Court on May 6 starting 9pm. Tickets can be bought for QR350, QR500, and QR1500 at Virgin Megastores in Villaggio and Landmark Mall, Grand Cine Center and QMDI Box Office at Recreation Center in Education City. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=April2009&file=Local_News2009042053740.xml
