H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday endorsed Cabinet Decision No. 24 of 2009 amending some provisions of Decision No. 17 of 2008 establishing the State Projects Financing Policies Committee.
After taking note of the Constitution and Emiri Decision No. 29 of 1996 on Cabinet decisions referred to the Emir for endorsement and issuance, the Cabinet decided to replace articles (1/paragraph one), (2 paragraph one) (3 paragraph one) and (4 paragraph one) of Cabinet Decision No. 17 of 2008. According to the decision, a committee, to be named State Projects Financing Policies Committee, is to be formed under the chairmanship of the Minister of Economy and Finance with a representative from Qatar Central Bank as Vice-Chairman and a representative each from Qatar Investment Authority and Qatar Petroleum as members.
The decision said the committee is to consider planning and financing strategies and plans related to securing loans required for ministries, other government organs, authorities, public corporations and companies.
According to the decision the committee can set up, from among its members, working groups or assign one of its members to study any of the topics that lie with its jurisdiction and seek the help of experts from among the state’s employees or others to help it carry out its functions.
