Elderly people have visited the Cultural Village at Rumailah Park as part of a three-day Eid programme. They took part in competitions, tasted the best traditional dishes made specially for them and listened to songs sung by traditional bands. The event was organised by the Qatari Foundation for the Care of the Elderly in cooperation with the Ministry of Art, Culture and Heritage. Yussuf al-Muftah, director of the foundation said such activities “would help make elderly people active members of society and reveal the hidden talents they might have”. He said that the Eid activities this year were held outside the foundation premises, following an invitation by the ministry, “to give them a feeling that they had not been sidelined”. Cultural Village general supervisor said that the ministry was keen to involve elderly people in such events. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=316197&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
