Following the success of Qatar Museums’ (QM) first Teachers Council event held last month, QM held its second Teachers Council forum today at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), part of the organisations commitment to enrich people’s lives by educating them on the value of art, heritage and creativity.

Held under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, this month’s event brought together more than 150 teachers from independent schools across Qatar, which complements last month’s event, that saw 200 teachers from international schools attend.

During the forum, which is planned to be a regular event, QM’s senior leadership spoke with teachers from across the country and invited them to share their opinions and feedback on QM’s educational programmes and resources and suggest new ideas for future programmes. The event provided teachers with a great opportunity to collaborate more closely with QM, learn more about its institutions, and discover the wide range of learning resources and professional development opportunities, including a Teacher Training programme, that are available to them through the organisation.

Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani personally welcomed teachers at the start of the event, and invited them to engage more closely with Qatar Museums. Other speakers included Mr. Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud, Chief Executive Officer and Special Advisor to H.E. the Chairperson at Qatar Museums, Mr. Salem Abdulla Al Aswad, Deputy Director of Learning & Outreach at Museum of Islamic Art and Ms. Fatima Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive Officer of the Doha Film Institute.

Following the forum, participants were given an informative tour of the galleries at MIA and were shown a demonstration of QM’s ‘hands on’ teaching practises. They were also given an opportunity to visit MIA’s Education Center, the Library, among several other areas.

Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, said:
