HSBC has signed an agreement to renew its partnership with Qatar Today Green Awards (QTGA) — Qatar’s first environmental awards. Under the agreement, signed by Robert De Gama, Deputy CEO, HSBC and Ravi Raman, Vice President, Oryx Advertising Company, HSBC will be the presenting partner for the 2009 and 2010 editions of QTGA. Launched last year with the aim of recognising and rewarding worthy environmental initiatives, the QTGA generated tremendous awareness and interest among the participating sectors. The awards recognise and promote initiatives across a broad spectrum of activities — from individual to collective efforts — of businesses, educational, medical, and government institutions, and individuals. The awards provide environmental groups with a platform to make a coordinated effort to create awareness and motivate participation in sustainable projects. “We have a dynamic corporate sustainability strategy with a strong focus on the environment. They can select the category to enter (multiple entries are allowed) and submit their case studies. A panel of eminent judges will evaluate each case and shortlist it for the second round.
