Qatar Weather announced via Twitter on 2 July 2022 a 6.1 magnitude earthquake in southern Iran.

The earthquake occurred at 2:24 am Doha time. The impact was felt in some areas of Qatar and Iran's neighboring countries.
According to Reuters, a total of 5 people were killed and 49 were injured. The area that was affected severely was Sayeh Khvosh, a village near Iran's Gulf.
This earthquake follows another 5.5 magnitude earthquake in Iran just 7 days prior on 25 June 2022.
