Strong dust winds could hit the country again by this afternoon causing low visibility in some areas and a slight fall in temperature.

The windy weather is expected to continue until Saturday. This has been attributed to the impact of a high pressure extending from Saudi Arabia.

During this period, temperature would drop by two to four degrees from the monthly average settling at 14 to 17 degrees at the minimum. The expected maximum temperature would be between 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Mercury would dip further in the southern parts of the country. The night and early hours of the day would be colder due to fresh winds, said the department.

Strong northwesterly winds would blow at speeds ranging between 12-22 knots up to 28 knots at times. This could lead to dusty conditions especially in open areas and highways and a decrease in horizontal visibility.

“The winter is not yet over but it is on the way out,” an expert at the department told this daily last evening. He said the expected dust winds may not lead to a significant fall in temperature.

According to a weather forecast issued by the department temperature in Doha today would hover between 16-30 degrees Celsius. It has forecast strong winds and high seas by afternoon with scattered clouds.
