Dream, Desire, Triumph & the Pathways to success at the Division T Toastmasters Annual Conference

Toastmasters of Division ‘T in Qatar recently conducted the Toastmasters Annual Conference, 2017 at Birla Public School, Doha. Division T Toastmasters in Qatar has strength of over 330 members spread over 12 Clubs grouped in 4 areas, and boasts of a multicultural mix of members.

Division T Director, TM Abhijit Kuwalekar opened the Conference and welcomed the delegates, special guests, children’s gavels club members and all Toastmasters present. The theme of ‘Dream, Desire…Triumph’ resonated well amongst all participants present for the event, and TM Abhijit mentioned how Toastmasters helps individuals to dream big and positively desire to act on their dreams to become triumphant in life- as leaders and communicators. Thereafter, following an address by the TAC-T Organization Committee Chair, TM Venkatesan Kulandaivelu, a banner parade was held wherein the leaders from the Division, Area and Clubs participated, showcasing their clubs’ proud achievements during the course of the year.

A special educational session on the new groundbreaking “Toastmasters Pathways programme” was conducted by DTM Mohammed Ikhlas Farid, a very senior and distinguished Toastmaster in Qatar and also a Pathways Ambassador for Qatar. DTM Farid explained how the new revitalized Toastmasters education programme will cater to the need for relevant real-world skills and adapting to an ever-changing, dynamic world using resources like Technology to our advantage in our development as leaders & communicators.

Speech Contests are a Toastmasters Tradition, and at TAC-T, the event consisted of four contest categories viz. The Speech Evaluation Contest, Table Topics (impromptu) speech contest, Humorous Speech Contest and the International Speech Contest. Qualification to contest began at the Club level and then progressed to the Area level wherein, each Area ensured they had 2 participants per category of contest for TAC-T. The winners of the respective contests were awarded a trophy and certificate, and each 1st place winner will now represent Division T at the District 20 Toastmasters Annual Conference Speech Contest which will be held in Bahrain from May 18-20, 2017. Members of the Toastmasters fraternity, Children’s Gavel Club members and also non-Toastmasters attended the event to make it a grand success.
