The world’s best competitive divers will be seen in action in Doha with the Qatar Swimming Association announcing the staging of the FINA Diving World Series 2009 to be held on March 21 and 22. Addressing a press conference yesterday, Khaleel al-Jabir, Qatar Swimming Association president said, ‘‘The Qatar Swimming Association has made impressive efforts to host this unique competition. “By awarding this event to Doha, FINA recognises that Doha has become one of the Middle East’s premier venues for international sport events. The event is tickets-free and we are inviting all Doha residents to come and witness one of the the best diving competitions.” FINA officials and athletes are arriving in Doha in the coming two days for their final preparations before the start of the competition on March 21 at the Hamad Aquatic Centre. The prestigious competition will feature the best male and female divers of the world. Divers will compete in individual and team events from the 3-metre springboard and 10-metre platform.
