Though the Doha Metro Red Line South has been closed from 30 May 2019 for five days because the Doha Metro is conducting network testing expansion works, it will resume operations on 4 June 2019 and during Eid days will be open, according to the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram Instagram page.
Tuesday 4 June: 6 am - 11 pm
Wednesday 5 June: 6 am - 11 pm
Thursday 6 June: 6 am - 11 pm
Friday 7 June: 11 am - 11 pm
Saturday 8 June: 6 am - 11 pm
After Ramadan, the Doha Metro operation timings will change to facilitate the many people in Qatar who start work at 7 am. Currently, just before the 6-day closure, timings were from 8 am to 11 pm from Sundays to Thursdays with the Doha Metro remaining closed during weekends to facilitate network expansion and to ensure the other stations on the Red Line South which include Katara, Legtaifiya, Qatar University and Lusail, as well as the other Doha Metro lines can be made operational soon.
So far, 13 out of the 18 stations on the Red Line South are open and these include Al Wakrah, Ras Bu Fontas, Free Zone, Oqba Ibn Nafie, Matar Al Qadeem, Umm Ghuwailina, Al Doha Al Jadeeda, Msheireb (Interchange station), Al Bidda (Interchange station), Corniche, QIC West Bay, DECC and Al Qassar.
After Ramadan, it is most likely that the newly opened Doha Metro Red Line South, which began operations on 8 May, will be having new timings, based on information from Qatar Rail's customer service hotline (105), to facilitate workers who start work at 7 am around Doha. The revised Doha metro timetable will be announced on Doha Metro and Qatar Rail social media platforms that include Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. People wishing to use the service to and from work, should keep a lookout so they are informed of the new timetable, or call the 105 for more information.
The entire Doha Metro network will be complete and operational by 2020, and will be beneficial to those who wish to avoid the heavy traffic on the roads during rush hours because it is faster, convenient and cost-effective.
