Salam Bounian has announced the signing of a leasing agreement which will bring Australian gourmet food retailer ‘jones the grocer’ to The Gate mall. The store, brought to Qatar by Moods Qatar, is set to open in the first quarter of 2012, occupying 380sq m of space on the ground floor and an external seating area facing the northeast entrance to the mall. Officials explained that ‘jones the grocer’ in Qatar will offer the same selection of award-winning goods as its other global locations. “This food emporium prides itself on offering products that are sourced and selected from all over the globe with a parallel goal of providing natural ingredients produced by specialist artisan suppliers and with an aim to support farmhouse producers,” said a spokesperson. “Its innovative in-store café showcases these products which range from premium tea leaves to luxury Belgian chocolates, freshly-baked bread, fine pastries, from artisan crackers through to handmade pasta sauces, Persian fairy floss and Italian truffles - each one being more exotic than the other and all of this in the casual atmosphere of a contemporary-designed café,” added the spokesperson. Yasser Hamad, general manager of Salam Bounian, said: “We are very pleased to welcome ‘jones the grocer’ to Qatar and especially to The Gate. To have them here aligns with our goal of introducing unique international brands to the people of Doha.” “We believe that they have chosen The Gate not only for its outstanding strategic location, contemporary design and technology but also due to its unique tenant mix and its confident commitment to delivering top-notch services,” he added.
