On 12 July 2022, the TIME Magazine included Doha in the list of 'The World's Greatest Places of 2022.
The magazine named Qatar as 'World Cup Wonders' and attributed the inclusion to the country's many noteworthy features such as the ancient history, desert landscapes, luxurious properties, breathtaking skyscrapers and more.
They also applauded Doha's efforts to meeting demands of the World Cup 2022. Along with admiring the fact that 100 hotels are to open by 2022, they pointed out the Le Royal Méridien Doha as it is to resemble the Place Vendôme in Paris, the beach side Chedi Katara Hotel and Resort, and the all-suite Fairmont and Raffles Doha.
They further pointed out Qatar's accommodation facilitation in the form of the 1,000 tented camps in the desert and two cruise ships set to house fans during the tournament. The collaboration with other regional airlines such as Flydubai and Oman Air to set up a shuttle service for match goers with approximately 160 daily flights throughout the tournament was also stated.
Another point of admiration as stated in the article is the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum being one of the largest of its sorts and also looking forward to the reopening of the Museum of Islamic Art.
The list gets compiled through a nomination of places by TIME's international network of correspondents and contributors, that seek out places offering new experiences.
