Al Raya newspaper reported on 20 July 2022, that the development of the Doha Corniche are approximately 95% done and are approaching completion.

The project which includes three tunnels and walkways will open to the public soon.

The three tunnels are Al Dafna Tunnel, Corniche Station Tunnel and West Bay Station Tunnel, which are expected to ease pedestrian movement and be a means of accessibility to areas within the neighbourhood.

Accessibility for the disabled and elderly are also taken in to consideration within the structure of the new tunnels that are equipped with escalators and elevators that ease their movement.

There are bicycle paths as well that connect between Al Bidda Park, Theatre Park and Hassad Tower.

The structure of the tunnels also includes a rainwater drainage network and firefighting systems. Furthermore, there are green areas that span toward the entrances.

Additionally, the tunnels will have two cafés located within each tunnel that will provide outdoor seating with a sea view.
