Doha College has signed an agreement with HE Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Thani, securing a long term lease on land that will allow the College to build a New Campus. Present at the official lease signing were HE Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Thani, and Mr Ahmed Saleh Al Khalaqi, Office Manager of HE Sheikh Khalid. Doha College was represented by Principal Mr Mark Leppard, Senior Vice Principal Mrs Teresa Woulfe and Mr Luke Godley Business Manager. Doha College’s Board of Governors was represented by Chairman Mr Graeme Bolton and Vice Chairman Mr Shams Hasan. The new Doha College Campus will be located in Abu Hamour and will offer additional places for primary and secondary school children when the New Campus opens which is expected to be in September 2016. On occasion of the signing of the lease HE Sheikh Khalid explained “I am honoured to support education within Qatar and to help Doha College achieve Qatar’s 2030 Vision through human development. I am excited to watch Doha College’s New Campus grow and I would encourage the whole community to support education within Qatar” Mr Graeme Bolton, Chairman of the Board of Governors at Doha College made clear how important this land would be for the College “The Governors are extremely grateful to HE Sheikh Khalid for supporting Doha College’s plans. This land and the New Campus are part of the College’s long term strategic vision to be recognised as one of the leading international schools in the world” Principal of Doha College Mark Leppard also commented, “Educational places within Qatar are stretched, and increasingly companies are advising us that finding school places for their staff is a significant barrier to the company’sgrowth. Securing this land for our New Campus will help to solve this problem. However we are a not-for-profit school and all of our profits are used to increase the education of the children. To build and equip this New Campus we will need to fundraise and we hope companies and the community within Qatar will support us through sponsorship and our debenture or secured school places programme” Doha College continues to operate under the sponsorship of the British Embassy and British Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Michael O'Neill CMG, commenting on this successful lease signing said “this is excellent news for Doha College and for the British community in Qatar especially as we celebrate the Qatar/UK Year of Culture in 2013. Thanks to HE Sheikh Khalid, Doha College can start to build a New Campus and assist companies to grow and help Qatar achieve its goals outlined within the National Vision 2030.” ILQ NEWS
