We have received the below from Doha College
Dear Parents
I am writing to inform you that today at 8.18 am our fire alarm activated. This was due to a small but genuine fire, in one of the air-conditioning units in the Primary school building. Nobody was harmed and all students in both Primary and Secondary were evacuated immediately.
The fire was extinguished very quickly, before Civil Defence arrived.
A full roll call was completed of all students, staff and visitors by 8.26 am.
Civil Defence were on the scene by 8.26 am followed by an ambulance and further Civil Defence support as a precautionary measure.
As a consequence of the smoke, the Primary school building has now been closed for the remainder of the day and Primary children have been relocated into the Secondary school building.
We are now undertaking a full investigation and once this has been completed we will communicate with you further.
It is important at this point to acknowledge the exemplary manner in which students followed evacuation procedures and the way the staff ensured the safety of all our students. Additionally, I should mention our security staff who were first on the scene to extinguish the fire.
This text has also been emailed to all parents.
If you have any queries, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you for your continued support
Mark Leppard
Principal
