Doha Bank has entered into a strategic alliance with Visa Inc, the world’s largest retail payment network, to expand its debit card business. Doha Bank has launched the Visa Debit Platinum, the first such card to be issued in Qatar, said a Visa Inc spokesman. Visa will support Doha Bank to further develop its debit portfolio and enhance customer services by increasing usage capabilities. “We have always maintained a strong and historical relationship with Visa Inc. through the variety of Visa products that we offer to our customers in Qatar, Dubai, and Kuwait on both credit and debit cards,” said Doha Bank CEO R Seetharaman. Tony Gougassian, Visa Inc’s area manager for the Levant and Qatar, said the agreement with Doha Bank represented a milestone for Visa in growing debit card capabilities in Qatar. The Visa debit platinum card offered customers exceptional spending power and came with free travel insurance, extended warranty on purchases and impeccable services around the world in case of urgent need for cash or immediate replacement in just one working day, said Nabil Tabbara, Doha Bank executive manager for retail banking. “This new card is branded with Al Riyada service of Doha Bank, which will be offe red to VIP and privileged customers and by invitation only,” he said. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=303168&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
