Music lovers in Qatar will be able to enjoy the last beach party to take place at the InterContinental Hotel before the summer, as house DJ and producer Ian Carey is set to perform at the hotel on June 9. Ian Carey is a DJ, music producer and recording artist who has been working as a DJ since 1993, and next weekend will be his first visit to Doha. From Maryland, US he has worked throughout Europe since 2003, contributing to the development of house music on the continent. Now based in Miami, he tours the world and is coming to Doha after a tour of Australia. Best known for hits including “Say Want You Want,” and “Rise,” he has recently reworked his previous Soul Providers’ tune into “Keep on Rising.” Beach parties at the InterContinental have become a major part of the music scene in Qatar with thousands of people turning up to the 10 or so events held on the beach over the past year. This event is being sponsored by iloveqatar.net with media sponsors, Qatar Happening. Hafidh al-Busaidy, general manager at the InterContinental, said: “Ian Carey is already a huge name in terms of producing, but this is a great chance to see him before he becomes a huge star with his own music.” “He’s a very good act and just about to break into the big time, so get him while you can,” he added. Tickets are available at Virgin Megastores for QR150 or they can be bought on the door for QR200. http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=438968&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16 Note: Sadly the Gulf Times made some errors in the original press release.
