Record-breaking Olympian in unique human vs. Arabian horse race, in ‘run like the wind’ event
Sasol, the globally integrated energy and chemical company, will further its
commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development in
Qatar with another initiative of the Definitely Able campaign, the ‘run like the wind’
race featuring Oscar Pistorius racing against an Arabian Horse, on the 12th of
December, at the Aspire Zone outdoor circuit.
Organised in collaboration with the Doha Goals Forum, the ‘run like the wind’ race
is aimed at raising awareness and highlighting the positive contribution of people
with disabilities in building the local community. Sasol is committed to making a
difference in the community through its on-going Definitely Able campaign which
aims to highlight the positive contribution and possibilities for people living with
disabilities in Qatar.
The ‘run like the wind’ challenge will feature Oscar Pistorius, an Olympic semi

model to fans and millions of disabled and abled bodied people around the world.
“We are proud to partner with Sasol for the Definitely Able campaign and hope

people’s lives, Oscar Pistorius is a wonderful example of how that change can be
achieved,” added H.E. Sheikh Saoud Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General of
the Olympic Committee.
Dr. Hassan Al – Ansari, Secretary General, Qatar Paralympic Committee also
commented that Sasol has made a difference in the community through its

disabled persons in the community and role of the Qatar Paralympic Committee.
Mr. Marjo Louw, Sasol’s Qatar Country President commented: The Definitely Able
campaign is a Sasol initiative established in collaboration with the Qatar Olympic
Committee and the Qatar Paralympic Committee. The campaign draws on Sasol’s
commitment to focus on the use of one’s abilities and overcoming the roadblock of
disabilities.”
Doha GOALS supports the mission of Sports as a tool for promoting peace, social
unity, and cultural tolerance while inspiring ideals and promoting a better lifestyle.
Sasol’s Definitely Able Campaign, in synergy with the mission, will continue its
journey that “being disabled means Definitely Able” by showcasing the abilities of
the disable with the ‘Run like the Wind’ event.
“We believe that it is through strategic partnerships, in the example of our alliance
with the Doha GOALS Forum, that we can utilise sports to promote fairness
and equality in the community. We are delighted to have Oscar as part of our
campaign as he is a global sports icon that has united both disabled and abled-
bodied persons around the world by investing in and embracing his own abilities”
added Mr. Louw.
Speaking on behalf of Doha Goals, Ms. Cecilia Attias explained the purpose of
Doha Goals and how it coincides with Sasol definitely able campaign, seeing run
the wind race as a true inspiring message, and Oscar Pistorius as a role model
who incarnates all what we at Doha Goals believe in.

the Definitely Able campaign as I am a true believer you are not disabled by the
disabilities you have but rather you are able by the abilities you have.”
'Run Like the Wind' is one of a series of unique Definitely Able events in Qatar. In
June, Sasol brought the South African Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball team to
Qatar to compete against the Qatar National Handball Team in a special ‘Champs
vs. Chairs’ challenge.
