Last night the ILQ team enjoyed a delightful meal at Debs w Remman, which is located at the Pearl-Qatar in Medina Centrale. When we entered, we were graciously received by the manager who showed us around the interior of the restaurant. The ambiance was homey and welcoming. It was set up in the style of a traditional Lebanese home, with flowers and paintings adorning both walls inside the restaurant.
We chose to sit outside the restaurant as the weather was cool and pleasant. There were many different kinds of people: couples, families, friends, all dining at the restaurant. It’s definitely a family-friendly environment.
The service was excellent. The waiters were helpful, kind, and always smiling. Our food arrived quite quickly and tasted even better than it looked. We ordered hummus with meat and chilli, falafel, spicy potato, and sausages in pomegranate syrup for starters. The starters won me over instantly. Everything was cooked and prepared so well! The hummus and potato receive five stars for the first round.
For our main course we had ordered lamb cooked with oriental rice, kebab in cherry sauce, and shish taouk (grilled chicken). The lamb and shish taouk won the MVP (Most Valuable Plate) awards for the second round. They were delicious! The kebab also gets an honorable mention, although I suppose it’s more of an acquired taste and not everyone might like it for its sweetness.
By the end of the main course I was stuffed, but we still had to have dessert. And *o m g* their dessert looked mouth-watering and tasted just as yummy. Their muhallabia took the cake in the last round. It was light and creamy, and downright delicious. Definitely going back for this particular dessert soon.
Overall I was very happy with the service, setting, and the food. I’ll definitely be Debs w Remman-iscing the experience.
