AN AGREEMENT to develop a residential block touted as the “Venice of Qatar” on Pearl-Qatar island was signed yesterday. The deal was signed between United Development Company (UDC), the developers of the Pearl-Qatar project, and Retaj Marketing and Project Management. The Retaj group will develop the Qanat Quartier (QQ003) project on the island. The block will consist of 179 residential units. The project comprising flats, villas and townhouses is likely to be completed in the first quarter of 2010. “Top quality homes” would be offered, said Abdulrahman al-Najjar, Retaj group CEO. The QQ003 project was modelled on Venice, the Italian city known for its canals, he said. The agreement was signed by UDC managing director and president Khalil Sholy and Retaj group chairman Abdul Latief al-Mahmoud. Besides al-Najjar, Retaj group board members Mohamed al-Jawhar and Abdul Latief al-Mana also attended the signing ceremony.
