The Minister of Justice H E Hasan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim has said that a new law on cyber crime will be issued soon. Speaking on the sidelines of a seminar organised by the Ministry of Justice on Monday, he said that some of the clauses of the draft law deal with cyber crime and database security. The law seeks to secure the use of Internet in the country. A Ministry of Interior official earlier said that the draft law on combating cyber crime has been referred to the Cabinet for approval. The government is reportedly taking the issue of cyber crime very seriously and strict legal action is being mulled against hackers and those involved in defaming, insulting or harming the interest of others on the Internet.
