The Public Works Authority - Ashghal announced via tweet on 4 October 2022 that the construction of three dhow boat docks is now complete.

The docks are located in 3 different locations:

• Al Bidda - near the pedestrian path of Al Bidda
• Dafna - near the pedestrian path of Dafna
• Sheraton - near Sheraton Park

Construction of the docks was done with the cooperation of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads & Public Places in Qatar, Qatar Tourism, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Municipality & Private Engineering Office.

As per Eng. Sara Kafood, Deputy Chairman of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, “Dhow​ Boat Docks project is in line with the development process witnessed by Al Corniche project and the major advancements in infrastructure projects in various fields in Qatar, in preparation to host a unique edition of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and welcoming guests from across the world."

It was also mentioned that the docks were constructed to enable people of all age groups to access the dhow boats in a safe and suitable way. The ease of access for those with special needs was also considered in the construction.

The structure is uniquely designed to possibly increase the number of parking spaces in the future by expanding the docks.
