QDVC (Qatari Diar Vinci Construction) has become the first construction company in Qatar to be awarded the Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS) award delivered by Barwa Qatari Diar Research Institute (BQDRI).
Moreover, QDVC received QSAS certification for its projects in Lusail, the car parks in Marina District and the light rail transit system.
The QSAS is the first of its kind performance-based sustainability rating system in the MENA region, developed by BQDRI in collaboration with TC Chan Center at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
“Green building at QDVC is not only a range of innovative materials and methods,” said Hamad al- Bishri, deputy CEO, “it is a whole eco-friendly attitude, raising awareness about environmental issues inside the company first and then to the public. Being the first company to receive the QSAS award, we understand our role and responsibilities towards the whole construction industry in Qatar. By sharing our best practices, we will contribute to the development of a more sustainable Qatar,” he said.
