Conference to prevent Defamation of Religious Meets at Doha Sheraton

Doha, March 09- Under the patronage of HE Minister of Justice Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, the Arab Committee tasked with revising an Arab law to prevent defamation of religions will meet on Sunday at Doha Sheraton Hotel. The two-day meeting, to be attended by representatives of Arab countries as well as members of the Committee, is an implementation of the decision of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice taken in its 28th session in Cairo. That session discussed a Qatari proposal related to an Arab law to prevent defamation of religions which was accepted and circulated to the Arab countries for their views. It decided as well to form a committee of Arab states to review the draft law and present it to the next session of the Council in 2013. Participants in the Committee’s meeting include Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, Jordan, Algeria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Egypt and Oman, as well as Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice and the Arab center for legal and judicial research.
