Commercialbank was the Gold sponsor for the Qatar Businesswomen Awards, which were distributed here recently. Launched in December 2007, under the auspices of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, wife of HH the Emir, the Qatar Business Women Awards (QBWA) identified and paid tribute to Qatari women who have contributed to Qatari society and economy through significant professional or entrepreneurial achievements. The award focused on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their fields. Commercialbank Deputy CEO Abdulla al-Raisi said, “Commercialbank recognises the vital role women play in a nation’s development and as such actively supports initiatives such as the Qatar Businesswomen Awards. We view the empowerment of women as the central enabler in the development of society and strongly support the role of women in business. Qatar has always demonstrated examples of women achieving excellence in leading organisations to success, and we are delighted to see a highly qualified and professional pool of entries for the awards. Recognition through such awards leads to building a sophisticated society of businesswomen that contributes directly to supporting the march of economic and social development in Qatar. We take this opportunity to whole-heartedly congratulate all winners and look forward to seeing more young women follow suit and achieve even greater success.’’ Commercialbank’s support of the event is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 that aims to develop Qatari women’s status and abilities, in order to enhance women’s roles and open new horizons for them, which are pivotal to building a modern, well balanced and productive society.
