College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) partnered with Qatar Museums to bring a heightened sense of patriotism to its National Day celebration.

CNA-Q annually hosts a special event ahead of the official day on December 18, before students start the busy exam period. This year it was held on December 1. QNM brought displays that intrigued the audience, including artwork that showed the extraordinary growth in the Doha skyline, and booths that depicted Qatar’s history and the evolution of the national flag.

“We are delighted to partner with QNM to celebrate the day in bringing Qatari culture and tradition to campus. Having such a prestigious partner for the event added to the atmosphere,” said Hissa Al Aali, Associate Director Executive, CNA-Q. “A deep sense of pride was felt, whether our students and staff are Qatari or from elsewhere — we all feel very proud of the country where we live, work and grow,” Al Aali added.

“It is a great day to honour the country, and celebrate all that Qatar has become. The leadership of the state is an inspiration to us all,” said Dr Ken MacLeod, President, CNA-Q. “We are honoured to be the institution selected to bring technical education and training to the country, support National Vision 2030 and play our part in shaping future generations.”

The campus was draped in maroon and white, with hundreds of flags waving around. Celebrations started with a horse-led march around the campus, including Dr MacLeod, Al Aali and senior college executives. The march was followed by traditional food while schoolchildren entertained hundreds of people in attendance with dance performances.
