The Media Centre for the 3rd Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference has been inaugurated by the director of the Fire Prevention Department Brig. Aman Saad al-Sulaiti at Umghuwailina Civil Defence Centre near the Capital Security Department. The Media Centre will be organising and covering many programmes related to the conference by hosting a number of personalities and specialists working in the fields of safety, security and civil protection at various organisations in Qatar. It will also cover the activities of the 3rd Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference. “The Civil Defence authority will conduct a technical study to benefit from the equipment that will be exhibited in the expo. And by this, we aim at strengthening and developing the equipment available at present in our department,” al-Sulaiti said. “80 prominent local, regional and international companies are taking part in this year’s exhibition. On the sidelines of the expo, we are planing to organise awareness seminars and lectures by highly qualified safety experts during the expo period. Certainly, these programmes will help to increase the safety awareness of all and also to prevent fire accidents,” said managing director of the expo Izzuddeen Abdulrahman. Abdulrahman pointed out that the number of participating companies has increased to 80% compared to the first edition, as the total space for the expo this year is 12,000 square metre and participation of some new countries for the first time in the expo such as Spain, Japan and Russia points to its improvement and recognition at the international level. The Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference organised in Doha is the biggest of its kind in the GCC and Middle East and North Africa going by participation of companies, additional activities held on the sidelines of the expo and total value of contracts signed during the expo period. Last year’s contract value was QR460mn. Captain al-Ali clarified that the 3rd expo and conference will witness a large number of new activities to attract visitors and investors.
