The international community should work seriously to put an end to human rights violations wherever they occur, Qatar’s chief prosecutor HE Ali bin Futais al-Merri has told a conference of Islamic attorney generals in Tehran. Some 60 representatives of public prosecution offices attended the two-day event which was inaugurated by Iran’s Vice President Barweez Dawoodi. Addressing the opening session, al-Merri said pacts related to the international humanitarian law should be translated into action. Al-Merri said what happened in Gaza was a clear violation of all international laws and conventions and should be taken seriously. Organisers said the conference discussed the violation of human rights of Palestinians during the Gaza siege. On the sidelines of the conference, al-Merri met Iranian officials and other delegates. Qatar’s ambassador to Iran Saleh al-Kuwari attended the meetings. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=286356&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
