A spectacular new stadium is rising up on the site of the old Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan. It will be a truly memorable venue, with a striking design that epitomizes Qatar's history – and its future. Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy shared the latest progress photos of the stadium on their twitter account.
Every part of the stadium district has been designed with sustainability in mind. After the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ has come to a close, almost half of the stadium's 40,000 modular seats will be removed and given to football development projects abroad. The smaller post-tournament arena will enable Al Rayyan to maintain the intimate, neighbourly character it's famous for.
Although this project is an international endeavour, one crucial element of the stadium – its 40,000 seats – will be produced by local company Coastal Qatar.
