InterContinental Hotels and Resorts are celebrating 50 years of catering to customers in the Middle East, with the anniversary of the Phoenicia InterContinental Beirut. The InterContinental Doha is marking the occasion with the ‘A Taste of Lebanon’ food festival which opens today. “InterContinental Doha’s guests will be taken on a culinary journey with a selection of Lebanese appetisers, delectable main dishes and famous Lebanese sweets at the Café restaurant,” said a hotel representative, adding “the authentic Lebanese buffet experience will be open from 7pm-11.30pm and will cost QR195 for adults and half price for children between 6 and 12 years old.” The festival will also feature a photographic exhibition, displaying the InterContinental’s heritage throughout the region, which will run during October as well. Senior vice president of sales and marketing for the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in Asia, Middle East and Africa, Karin Sheppard said: “InterContinental has been on the international scene for six decades and in the Middle East for 50 years. Our long history in the Middle East warrants a sound knowledge and deeply embedded respect for the different cultures around this diverse region.” “InterContinental draws on this local knowledge and expertise to give our guests authentic and memorable ‘in the know’ experiences whenever they stay at one of our hotels or resorts,” said Sheppard, adding “a ‘Taste of Lebanon’ will offer guests around the region the chance to experience true Lebanese hospitality and festivities as we mark the 50th anniversary of Phoenicia InterContinental Beirut.” IHG currently has a portfolio of more than 4,400 hotels around the world, with 74 hotels in the Middle East and another 38 currently in the pipeline for the region.
