This Ramadan, Carrefour Qatar has partnered with the Education Above All Foundation (EAA) through its 'Together' programme to support parents and families in Qatar who face barriers to attending school. The retail leader has pledged to match all donations made by customers in store between 23 and 30 April in support of EAA causes, to ensure all children and youth in Qatar have access to quality education. As customers shop for their Ramadan essentials, they can give back to the community this blessed month by donating at the cash counter of any Carrefour store. In support of the foundation’s ‘Together’ programme, the donation initiative aims to ensure quality education is prioritised for Qatar’s children and youth

The initiative builds upon Carrefour’s ongoing partnership with EAA and their shared commitment to bringing hope and real opportunity to the lives of impoverished and marginalised children and youth. In particular, this includes young people in the developing world and those facing threats such as conflict and natural disasters. Since May 2019, Carrefour has raised more than QR 3.5m for Education Above All Foundation’s (EAA) initiatives.

Laurent Hausknecht, Country Manager at Carrefour Qatar, said:

“Carrefour supports the community every day by providing them with their grocery and lifestyle essentials. As Ramadan evokes the spirit of giving in us all, it’s important to look toward those who are less fortunate. That’s why we’ve once again partnered with the Education Above All Foundation towards our shared goal of bettering the community and uplifting those around us. Education is a vital pillar of any society. By providing youth with access to quality education, we hope to transform their lives by helping them to build a better future for themselves.”

Commenting on the initiative, Moza Al Mansouri, Fundraising and Partnerships Specialist of the EAA Foundation, said:

“Education stands as the strongest pillar of growth for our youth who will lead the way into the future. Now more than ever, learners around the world need our support in disseminating remote learning solutions. This Ramadan, we are augmenting our approach so that we can reach millions of children worldwide who are negatively impacted by the current situation. We would like to thank Carrefour, who have once again joined us in supporting our mission, to guarantee every child’s right to education.”
