Doha, February 26 – Under the patronage of HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatar Career Fair (QCF), organized by Qatar Foundation, Qatar Petroleum, AmiriDiwan, Qatar University and the Ministry of Labour, will return in its 6th Edition from April 1 to 6 at the Qatar National Convention Center. The announcement was made at a press conference held today at The Club House in Education City. Aimed at empowering Qatari youth to take charge of their own future, QCF provides nationals with the ideal environment to understand their prospects in the Qatar job market in terms of career orientation, key areas of employment, skill requirements, and training and development opportunities. To date, over 140 Exhibitors have registered for the major event in April. They include Qatar s leading influencers, corporations and academia from all major economic sectors. They will play a pivotal role in providing young Qatari s, especially students and fresh graduates, professional guidance and advice on career opportunities and alternatives available to Qataris. This year, in an effort to streamline registration processes, QCF has introduced e-registration via its website. This year, only Exhibitors who disclosed their results of their participation last year may be allowed to register. During the event, the organizers also announced a series of important lecturers that will take place in conjunction with QCF 2013. Held throughout February and May, these lectures will focus on the future of Qatari youth in key growth sectors of the nation s economy including energy, sports, and arts. In addition, lectures will be held on the dynamics of careers in the public sector versus private sector, as well as entrepreneurship versus paid employment. The first lecture of the lecture series will be held on 27 January at Texas A&M University in Education City to discuss the role of Qatari youth in the future of energy. The session will be moderated by Abubaker Al Saiari, QP Qatarzation Steering Committee. Participants include: Mubarak Al Nasr CEO of RasLaffan, Nasser Al Hajri Human Resource & Learning Manager at Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), and Mohammed Al Jammal Head of overseas Academic Affairs. “QCF is aimed at creating a dynamic future workforce of Qatari nationals, which supports the human development pillar of Qatar Vision 2030. It is therefore important that we empower Qatari youth to take charge of their own future and enable them to make informed choices and decisions about their prospects in the Qatari workforce. This year, QCF has introduced new outreach programs such as a series of lectures aimed at educating young Qataris of their employment prospects in major sectors of the nation s economy. Our purpose is to instill a career culture amongst youth and get them thinking about how they can contribute to the future of their country”, said Abdullah Al Mansoori, Executive Director,QCF. On March 31st, QCF will host another press conference to announce the key outcomes and results of the previous year s Fair. The announcement is a highly anticipated event for QCF stakeholders.
