camping season in Qatar

The camping season starts in Qatar every year at the beginning of November, when thousands of citizens go camping in the desert and at the beaches, setting up traditional tents and caravans that are specially prepared for this purpose.

In this season, which is characterized by moderate temperatures, these areas turn into tourist destinations that attract thousands of citizens, residents and visitors to the country from different parts of the world. This season is also filled with many activities and events that enhance both domestic and foreign tourism and reflect an interest in heritage values.

Qatar is one of the GCC countries whose residents are interested in camping, which represents an annual tradition inherited through generations. Camping involves leaving urban areas and living in caravans and tents with modern design and equipment that combines traditions and modernity.

The camping season attracts thousands of Qatari families who head towards the desert or on the beautiful sandy beaches. Thousands of visitors also attend this winter-spring event to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and watch the performances and activities that usually accompany the season, such as horse and camel rides, beach buggy and barbeque nights.

The number of camps that are booked annually by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment exceeds 2,500 camps each season, while the number of camping areas increased this year to more than 30 areas compared to 17 last year, distributed all over the country.

In its keenness to boost the comfort and safety of the people, Qatar has taken many measures represented in the conditions that must be followed during the camping season to ensure the preservation of the Qatari environment, including the opening of HMC's medical clinic and an ambulance point that operates around the clock with all equipment and medicines available to treat emergency cases. It has also built a helipad for air ambulances to receive visitors from the camps.

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) also provided a seasonal station to fill water tanks to provide safe drinking water that is subject to the highest quality standards for camping visitors.
