Lulu Hypermarket, Al Gharrafa, is organising British Food Festival from today.

It is being hosted by Lulu Hypermarket Group in association with the British embassy and British Council and will be inaugurated by Ambassador Nicholas Hopton in the presence of dignitaries and senior executives from leading business groups in the retail industry and other walks of life.

The festival until April 9 is in line with celebrations envisaged by the embassy and based on Lulu’s annual events calendar at Lulu Hypermarkets in all regions.

It is showcasing British manufacturing, encompassing grocery, fruits and vegetables, delicatessen, dairy and bakery products, frozen foods, fish, hot food, as well as household, health and beauty items.

Lulu Group International, as a global player in the retail sector, launched operations in Birmingham, the UK, with the inauguration of Y International (UK) Ltd in the first quarter of last year.

Major activities of this fully owned subsidiary are procurement, consolidation and export of British products to their more than 109 retail stores.

They have chosen Birmingham as the centre for procurement, consolidation and export of food, non-food, chilled and frozen products of UK origin, and leased a high quality food standard warehouse in the Industrial Park to accelerate and streamline their logistics.

The state-of-the-art facility initiates value addition by date coding and labelling for countries, translation of labels, halal and other certifications and export from the UK to their supermarkets, hypermarkets and other food service companies all over the GCC.
