PHOTOJOURNALIST and author Maher Attar will attend a book signing session today at Virgin Megastore, the Landmark Mall at 6pm to promote his latest book, Portraits … Lebanon. Published by Art & Privilege, the book is a 112-page collection of photographs and interviews about 49 key figures in Lebanese politics, economy, arts and culture. In 2006, Attar created Souq Waqef, a photographic exhibition about one of Qatar’s most important cultural landmarks. It mirrored the importance of this architectural marvel and was first exhibited on large format canvas boards during the Asian Games. It then went on display in Paris in June 2007 under the patronage of Qatar Museum’s Authority chairperson HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad al-Thani. Portraits … Lebanon is a powerful representation of how photography can communicate people, thoughts and ideologies,” Virgin Megastore’s head of marketing Elie El Massih said. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=269917&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
