Barwa Masaken Sailiyah & Mesaimeer Co, a subsidiary of the Barwa Group, has won the “Best Completed Development Award” at the Affordable Housing Development Middle East in Manama, Bahrain. The award was handed over to Barwa Masaken general manager, Khalifa Salman al-Mohannadi, by Bahrain’s Minister of Housing, Sheikh Ebrahim bin Khalifa al-Khalifa. Also in attendance at the awards ceremony were Barwa deputy chairman Hitmi Ali al-Hitmi, Barwa investment director Ibrahim Fakhroo, and Barwa Masaken board of directors chairman, Mohamed Ismail al-Emadi, an official said. ”Masaken Sailiyah & Mesaimeer has won the award for its significant role in the development of affordable housing units in Qatar. “The projects delivered by Masaken have contributed to the increase in affordable housing in the region, while also demonstrating Barwa’s ability to deliver high standard projects within budget, through outstanding design, planning and use of innovative building materials,” al-Mohannadi said. “Masaken deserves recognition of this kind because of its innovative and pioneering approach and the quality of construction and package of amenities on offer in these affordable housing developments,” Ibrahim Fakhroo pointed out. The Masaken Sailiyah & Mesaimeer Company was created to help middle-income residents in Qatar. The projects consist of two phases in West Sailiya and Mesaimeer with a total of 31 buildings; 14 buildings with two-bedroom apartments, and 17 buildings with three-bedroom apartments. Each building houses 32 apartments, with a total number of almost 2,000 apartments in both areas. The housing in Mesaimeer was handed over to pre-screened tenants last year, while the Sailiyah handover was done in July, 2010. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=390325&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
