Barwa to deliver flats ‘as per the contract’ THE Barwa Housing Programme (BHP) yesterday confirmed that it would deliver the Mesaimeer units to the beneficiaries on February 1, the date stipulated on the contract executed with them. An official spokesman said the lease contracts of Mesaimeer units have been signed with more than 650 beneficiary families immediately after Eid al-Adha of last year. “Some beneficiaries did not appear to sign their contracts which accordingly gave BHP committee the opportunity to transfer some of the Sailiya beneficiaries to the Mesaimeer complex. Giving the transferred Sailiya beneficiaries a chance to arrange their issues and to honour their current contractual commitments, Barwa has postponed the delivery of their Mesaimeer units until March 2009,” he said. “By doing so, Barwa intended to facilitate things and not to burden the beneficiaries with other commitments until they move in to their units.” According to the official, some criteria have been set out to select beneficiaries who were transferred from the Sailiya list. “These criteria come in line with the general aims of the programme. The main aims can be summed up in creating and sustaining a better life and environment for people in Qatar.” The Barwa spokesman said Kahramaa has confirmed that transmission of electricity shall be completed in January as earlier scheduled. “All works are completed, except the final touches,” he said. The official said BHP’s work plan and the delivery of units are going as scheduled and earlier announced by Yousef Mohamed al-Horr in November 2008. Barwa Housing Programme was launched as a practical solution to tackle the high inflation that Qatar is experiencing, support the development plans of the country and lessen the housing crisis created by Qatar’s stupendous economic growth. Built on two separate plots, with total area of 200,000sq m each and a built-up area of 158,000sq m, in West Sailiya and South Doha, Barwa Housing Programme will offer 1,984 residential units through 31 buildings on each plot. Seventeen of the buildings have a three-bedroom design and 14 have a two-bedroom design. The project has ample facilities for rest and relaxation of its tenants including green areas and children’s playground. Both sites have a clubhouse, gym, games rooms, multi-purpose hall, basketball court, tennis court, and swimming pool, retail shops and six-room nursery schools. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=266622&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
