The Ministry of Municipality announced in a tweet on 7 August 2022, that the ban period on kingfish hunting has been stipulated as August 15 to October 15 2022.

They also mentioned that the fine for violators will be no less than QR 2,000 and no more than QR 10,000.
The objective of the fishing period is to maintain its sustainability and protect them by legalizing the fishing size to 45 cm as this fish of significant economic value to Qatar.
It was also mentioned that fishing nets are prohibited to be used during this period and only hooks are allowed.
