The Department of Religious Call and Guidance at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs honored the winners of the first Holy Quran competition for students of Quran centers for 2019 and the sixth cultural excellence competition.

In the first year of Holy Quran competition, the department honored 40 winners, with 10 students in each of its four branches memorizing 25, 20, 15, and 10 parts. Also, 40 directors of Holy Quran learning centers were honored with the highest scores achieved by the students of their participating centers with a total prize money worth QR 152,000.

The Department of Religious Call and Guidance has also honored the winners of the sixth excellence competition, including 100 students from all centers, as well as 15 center directors whose their students obtained the highest grades in memorization with total prizes of QR 100,000 .

Director of the Department of Religious Call and Guidance Malallah Al Jaber confirmed that both competitions were held at the level of all the memorization centers across the country, where 299 students belonging to 101 centers participated to Holy Quran competition while 202 students from 101 centers in cultural excellence competition.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs does not regard Holy Quran learning centers as a place for memorization only, but also as educational incubators in which the student learns the Quran, Hadith and Sharia sciences, in addition to providing educational and advocacy lessons while motivating them to attend these lessons in the centers with various rewards.

Al Jaber stressed that the Department of Religious Call and Guidance works to update the categories of the Quran contest by adding less memorization categories, one part and five parts, as well as organizing a special competition for the women's memorization centers soon.
